Ukraine to celebrate the 27th Independence Day

27th Independence Day of Ukraine is going to surprise Ukrainians and guests of the country with advanced weapons that are to be presented at the military parade in Kyiv on 24 August, 2018. Almost 4,5 thousand troops and 250 units of military equipment will participate in the parade. Earlier the defense minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak said that «it’s the first time Ukraine will demonstrate both customary and recently-accepted examples of military hardware during the parade and the mechanized convoy march». He added that 18 foreign countries, including the members of the NATO, have confirmed the participation of their troops in Ukraine’s Independence Day celebrations.

It is also known that a new transport aircraft Antonov An-178 is to be presented at the parade. It will be the first public demonstration of the aircraft in Ukraine at this level event. Previously, Antonov An-178 was successfully demonstrated at the leading professional platforms, such as International Aerospace Exhibitions Le Bourget-2015 (France) and Farnborough-2018 (Great Britain) and became one of the main events.

The Defence Blog informed that the recently received US-made AN/TPQ-49 lightweight counter mortar radar systems and AN/TPQ-36 firefinder weapon locating systems are also to be showcased at the country’s Independence Day military parade. The radar systems help to defend Ukrainian military personnel and civilians against rocket and artillery attacks. The U.S. Army sent counter-battery radars to Ukraine in 2015 and 2016 as part of the US presidential drawdown.

Few days ago it was announced that U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton is to visit Ukrainian capital on Independence Day.
